Turn Gmail into a portable hard drive
[Archived in Entry]
[L0rdDiabl0's Blog] Today while doing my daily routine of surfing for new interesting things, I stumbled upon this new very interesting service Gmail Hard Drive, this site enables you to use your Gmail account as a 2GB Online Storage that you can access from everywhere, I dont know about you but I really needed a service like this, only if I could upload at a higher speed.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[The Bit Cruncher, IT Pro] Stop using Passwords, Use Pass Phrases!: I do. There are about 10 passwords I have to remember/change on regular basis, not speaking the ones I use for Blogger, my Hotmail, Gmail etc... When surfing the web I found a rather interesting article on Robert Hensing's Blog. He recommends using Pass-Phrases instead the password of 7 or more letters and numbers.
[ mynimals blog] Home again”¦: found a very interesting topic over at Neowin. :P Turns out Firefox isnt NEARLY as “ground-breaking”...? We all know how bloggers love to spin things in certain ways, and it is interesting to note how... entry about some rather interesting claims about new features in Mozillas embedded browser, Minimo
[Out of My Mind] MOMMY WANTS AN ANGMOH SON-IN-LAW Yes yes, I heard...: of the things I did, and yet his sensitivity to details was quick to pick things up. How interesting. *** ..... *ponder* *** Janice was surfing Attica's website's gallery when she saw a picture of David. Er.... SOOO CUTEEEEEEE... *** Something's really wrong with Gmail. I hope it is not on its path
[BULLETPROOF DANDY] Not so fast, Google: 37signals' Signal vs. Noise offers a very straightforward explanation of one of its key risks presented by GWA's pre-fetching of all content linked from the present page, so they'll load faster: "Google is essentially clicking every link on the page  including links like 'delete this' or 'cancel that.' And to make matters worse, Google ignores the Javascript confirmations. So, if you have a 'Are you sure you want to delete this?' Javascript confirmation behind that 'delete' link, Google ignores it and performs the action anyway."
[ InsideGoogle - part of the Blog News Channel] Google Goes Down: [Larry Magid] Ah, well, no. He simply said that it happened, and I thing that’s something that obviously their technicians would deal with. And it also shows that if it could happen to Google, and I think Google has good security in place, and some of the brightest technicians around, if it could happen to them it could happen to anyone, and indeed it has happened to just about every major web server that I can think of… Its just one of the realities of the world we’re in right now that this stuff is good but its far from perfect.I tried to figure out who the female anchor was, with no luck (help me out if you know).
strider.co.za -: I've been very careful with publishing email addresses due to the fear of getting spammed. From what i've heard though, gmail's spam filtering is brilliant, which makes sense since the Google people are smart, and with gmail they have a very good distributed network of spam reporters. So, i've decided to once again make myself reachable by publishing my gmail address: stridervc@gmail.com
gtonic's blog: Our talk on wednesday was pretty nice, we received positive response from the audience. The following days the other countries also provided their approaches on software development and for now one has quite an overview of how the people from the different universites try to meet their goals when doing a software project. Especially the swedish talk about 'Integrated System Development Methods' was quite impressing.
Tools: The Google Web Accelerator Performance Statistics page shows you much time the Google Web Accelerator has saved you while surfing... This includes the number of pages that have been loaded and how long these pages would have taken to load with and without Google Web Accelerator. Impressing that only after an hour of browsing it already showed me 8 minutes saved or so...
tecosystems: Infoware Entrance/Exit Strategies and Gmail: In the case of del.icio.us, it was easy to weave my own stuff into the service. Using the procedure I detailed here, tags that I maintain on my blog entries are automatically sprayed into del.icio.us. With little effort, I was able to create hundreds of integration points between two complex information surfaces -- my blog and del.icio.us. This was so effective that I decided to use del.icio.us for tag surfing of my blog.
BobaFind: For showing us your support and for being so patient. And to those who have already signed up for Gmail, thank you for giving it a try and for helping us make it better.
